Make your own plant cozy!
2. light sensor
3. coin cell
4. battery board
5. felt pieces
7. conductive thread
Cut the shape you want using felt to wrap around the flower pot. You may need to make it longer to fit around the flower pot you are designing for.
Plan your circuit.
This circuit contains a beep board, a light sensor, a battery board, and a snap or button. The snaps will secure the cozy around the pot. Lay out your components on the fabric, making sure your conductive paths can not overlap.
Power the light sensor.
Tack on the other negative pad on the battery board, and sew to connect to the negative pad on the light sensor board. Tie a knot and cut your thread.Tack on the positive pad on the light sensor board. Then sew the positive pad on the battery board to the positive pad on the lights ensor board where the “+” pad is located. Tie a knot and cut your thread.
Connecting the buzzer.
Sew a connection with conductive thread between the positive pad on the buzzer to the pad on the light sensor board that says“Sense Dark”. Tie a knot and cut your thread.
Ground the buzzer.
Place the battery board about an inch away from the snap. Sew with conductive thread to connect to the negative pad on the battery board to the negative pad on the buzzer. Wrap thread around pads around3 - 5 times. Secure with a knot and trim the extra thread.
Attach the snaps.
Take your needle with non-conductive thread and sew the snap or button to one side of the cozy.
If sewing a snap, sew the other side of the snap to the other side. Make sure that when you wrap the cozy around to bring the edges together, the snap can close. If sewing a button, cut a slit on the other side for the button to slide through.
